See Waratah's small cottage homes

HammondCare's cottages are purpose-designed to help you make choices for yourself.

There's easy access to gardens, a central kitchen you can recognise and use, and a mix of shared living areas and quiet comfortable spots to sit and relax.

Designed to improve quality of life

Together with clinical care expertise, HammondCare's homes are designed to help you feel familiar in your environment and make your own decisions.

Real home environment

HammondCare's cottages reflect the recommendations of the Royal Commission and are designed to promote normality in everyday life.

This means having the flexibility to do what you want, when you want. Living in a small household, you are treated as an individual and supported to build strong, trusting relationships with your care team.

Family home kitchens

Through style and layout, HammondCare's homes help you know where you are, and see where you are going next.

Domestic kitchens are situated at the heart of the cottages, and have appliances you can recognise and use. This provides familiarity and comfort through the sights, smells, and sounds of cooking.

Clever, gentle design

When you are experiencing symptoms of dementia, subtle features like paint colours and carpet patterns can help you stay calm.

HammondCare's cottages combine soothing colours with lots of natural light to help you feel at ease.

The cottages are also designed so the line of sight from each area helps you navigate easily around the home.

Normal sights and sounds

Unfamiliar sights and sounds in your own home can be unsettling - this effect is amplified by dementia. HammondCare's cottages are designed so what you see and hear is a normal home.

The safety features are unobtrusive, and utility rooms and clinical equipment is concealed to enhance the sense of home.

Your time, your choice

When it comes to how you spend your time, the decision is yours.

HammondCare doesn't have fixed activity schedules, and mealtimes are flexible. Your family and friends are welcome to visit at any time.

The cottages have a mix of shared living areas and quiet places to sit and relax, so you choose when to socialise with others or enjoy time to yourself.

Meaning and purpose

Everyone has the right to feel a sense of meaning and purpose in daily life.

HammondCare's cottages support specialised carers to create positive and inclusive environments where you can participate.

For instance, there are accessible features such as regular washing machines, tumble dryers, and clotheslines, so you can keep being part of normal daily activities.

Personalised care

Care works best when it's tailored to you - both through your care team's approach and your physical environment.

At HammondCare, you are encouraged to personalise your room with your favourite furniture, artwork, and keepsakes, so it feels even more like home.

This includes your own mounted memory box at the entry to your room.

Your specialised care team

Trained in specialised dementia care, your team is dedicated to understanding all the things that make you, you.

Your carers learn about your history, passions, values, and hobbies to help you maintain a fulfilling life. HammondCare's team members are chosen for their commitment to making a difference in people’s lives through compassionate care and clinical excellence.

Because it's not just care, it's HammondCare.
