We believe few things are more important than a sense of belonging and feeling at home. And when a loved one comes into our care, we understand the transition from their home environment can be challenging. Our team is here to support this change – partnering with families, to help make the experience as comfortable as possible.
Residents’ memories are precious, and unique to each individual we care for. Memory boxes, conveniently located outside each resident’s room, are perfect for displaying a collection of personal mementos – it could be a book from their childhood, a precious photo, medals, or that special something that represents their own special history.
We also encourage family and friends to help residents in decorating their rooms with personal items such as familiar photos, furniture, anything that has meaning for them and make their room feel like home. Perhaps they’d like to share familiar sounds and smells, to further enhance that sense of familiarity and comfort – bringing a favourite home cooked meal to share, or a bunch of flowers from their garden, a patchwork quilt from their bed.
The ideas are endless! Please talk to our team members for further support. We’re always here to help.
