What inspired or motivated you to join HammondCare?
Early on in my career while I was studying nursing and working as a community care worker, HammondCare’s presence where I live on the Central Coast stood out for me – supporting people at home with its innovative, mission led approach.
20 years later I continue to be inspired by HammondCare’s dedication to innovation and unwavering focus to deliver unique person-centred care in people’s homes.
We’d love to hear about the roles and career steps from your 20-year career journey
I started with HammondCare as Care Manager and then Clinical Care Manager, applying my RN training for that role. I then advanced to Area Manager and after that Head of Region, expanding my impact, connections and experience with the local teams.
Today, as Head of Business Transformation, my focus is on strategic contributions – while always staying focused and connected to HammondCare’s mission. Listening to team members and clients has been invaluable in shaping innovation and improving our services.
You’ve experienced a number of highlights over the two decades – can you share three with us?
I have really enjoyed being able to see how our care can better the lives of our clients and their families. The relationships I built while doing this are still so important to me, and it’s exciting to know that many of the clients I cared for still use our services today.
My team has always been a highlight throughout my time at HammondCare, especially during the challenges we faced during COVID-19. It’s so rewarding to work with such committed and resilient people across every level of HammondCare.
Finally, there are a few clients who’ve really stuck with me - those I’ve cared for at the end of their lives or who gave me valuable feedback. Each individual has taught me so much, and those personal connections have shaped how we continue to grow as an organisation.
Has there been a mentor or two along the way?
Absolutely. I've been fortunate to learn from inspiring leaders and pastoral care teams who demonstrated the importance of empathy, integrity, and resilience when caring for people.
What are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of how I’ve made a tangible difference in people’s lives, whether through direct care, leading a team, or driving transformative initiatives. It’s a privilege to be part of an organisation that genuinely helps improve the lives of the people we care for.
Anything else you would like to share?
People often ask me why I have stayed in one place my entire career - this doesn't seem to be the norm these days. I’ve always felt supported and challenged to do more, so my question is 'why would I leave'?
