Staying in hospital to receive rehabilitation, palliative, or mental health care is often a difficult and isolating time for many patients and their families. That’s why with your vital support, the HammondCare Foundation can fund the Arts Engagement in Hospitals program.
This innovative program connects interested patients with professional artists, setting up one-on-one or group art sessions. By showing your support, you can help patients and their families in the toughest of times by helping to improve quality of life through creative pursuit, social connection and the joy of art-making, during their stay in a HammondCare hospital.

A life memorialised in watercolour
Palliative care patient, Divy, used the program as an opportunity to have his portrait painted for his mother. During the two-hour session, the 29-year-old enjoyed respite from thinking about his battle with kidney cancer. Instead, he discussed his life, passions and hobbies – allowing Lead Artist, Annette Innis, to capture his essence in watercolour. Divy has a vibrant personality and loves a laugh, although he tires easily these days. He also shows maturity well beyond his years.
